Luciana was raised in Rome with her grandparents. Luciana's father was Manlio Paoluzzi, an Italian military officer. Her mother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was once one of Benito Mussolini's lovers. It is not known if she had having siblings. She attended a local high school and upon graduation in 1955, she enrolled in naval engineering at the Scientific Academy of Milan - Luciana was the only female in the class. Luciana began as fashion models after only two years. Her professional career took a turn afterwards, when by pure luck, she was offered her first acting role on screen in Three Coins in the Fountain. Brett Halsey is an actress and husband to her at first. Following their marriage in 1960, the couple produced a film together called Return to the Peyton Palace. Luciana got custody when the couple broke up a few years after Charles became a baby. Luciana had a long-term relationship with Tony Athony, an actor and film producer. Tony was influenced by Luciana's role in Green Slime to create the Spaghetti Western.
